"To Drill or Not To Drill"

Universal Grade Low Yield (Ugly) Oil wants to drill in the oil rich land on the Saganantua Reservation is Eastern Nevada!  Unfortunately for them, there is a law that they can not drill on reservation lands without the express permission of the tribe.  Their crooked lobbyist Irma Megabucks enlists the aid of the dishonest chairman of the Senate Homeland Investigating Territories committee, Senator Bragbart Blowhard and the director of the Federal Administration Regulation Territories, Senator Neuman Wilkins to trick Shining Antelope, princess of the Saganantua tribe, into signing the permission. Fortunately for the Saganantuas, Florence Fairminded, Deputy Director of the F.A.R.T. and Gordon Goodguy, a senator from Nevada, team up to foil the plans of the villains!!!  The answer is Not to Drill, and, in this case, Big Bucks Don't Always Win!!!!

"Asparagus Blight and the Single Girl"

There is an asparagus blight or something that is keeping the family asparagus farm from producing.  Mildred's father has  gone to the big city of Reno to raise capitol for the asparagus ranch in Stagecoach, but he has never returned.  Unfortunately, Father will never return, for he has fallen prey to Natasha Blowemup, who has learned that the reason the farm won't produce is because of the silver ore working its' way to the surface.  Mildred signs the property over to her greedy aunt, Fancy Ann Worthalot, for a six month mortgage extension and money to live on because she expects Father to return.  When she learns of her father's death, she signs a power of attorney over to Natasha's partner, Reginald Van Boring.  But, as fortune would have it, see also meets Xavier T. Gundersnort and they fall in love.  Xavier becomes her champion, and of course, all her problems are solved at the end when Natasha gets arrested for doing in Mildred's father.

"Irish Eyes Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre"   

An FBI agent has been assigned to investigate a death arising from a conspiracy by several zany characters stricken with jealousy and greed.  The murder took place at the contemporary "Blue Shamrock Inn", an Irish karaoke bar.  Thus sets the stage for a murder mystery dinner theater fundraiser for Meals-On-Wheels program and other senior services.  The audience got into the act singing with the karaoke and helping to solve the mystery.

"Highjinks on the Homefront"

 

Jeremy Trueblue went off to the war in Europe and has returned an ace and a hero.  He has an idea for a special gizmo that will save American lives and shorten the war.  He has been assigned to the air field in Fallon to work on it.  On a chance visit to the Cosmopolitan Cabaret in Dayton, he encounters Melissa Meadowlark who will ultimately win his heart.  Unfortunately, he also encounters Mata Hurry, who, with her henchman Adolph Snickerbroder, aka Winston Churchhouse, schemes to get the gizmo for the Fatherland.  With the aid of agents for the Alien Sabotage Surveillance (A.S.S.) Jeremy thwarts the nefarious Nazi spies!!

    "Dirty Deeds Don't Do"

Bunco DeSneer and his gang have purchased Dayton Diggins from Henrietta Steindrinker at the Gopher Ranch and set up a scam with the Easymoney Mine.  He has Brenda Butts, (Billie Jean's sister) salt the mine with real ore and minerals.  Then, when the Greenhorns come in to town on the V & T railroad from Yerington, they pick up the samples and bring them to Flora Fourflusher to be assayed.  When she pronounces them valuable, how they rush to buy stock in the Mine!!  This is a good scam until Bunco learns from Monty Mountainman that Henrietta Steindrinker cheated him and sold him a town she didn't own.  And then, the real owner shows up!  His scam is undone by Crazy Cora finding her long, lost child and the new owner, Verlinda Springblossom having other ideas for the town.  In the end, Bunco finds out that "Dirty Deeds Don't Do."

Performed March 17, 18, 24 and 25, 2006 at the historic Odeon Hall (formerly Mia's Swiss Restaurant) in Dayton, NV.  An encore of "Dirty Deeds Don't Do" was presented at the Brewery Arts Center, in Carson City on May 13, 2006.

 

"Mischief in Minden"

This performance was hosted by the Douglas County Historical Society as a fund raiser for the museum. This was an encore performance of  "The Ballad of Dayton Diggins" modified for the Minden-Gardnerville community.

Performed January 13 and 14, 2006 at the museum at 1477 Highway 395, Gardnerville.

 

                                                                  

"The Ballad of Dayton Diggins"

Dexter deVille runs a crooked assay office and store at the Dayton Diggins.  He is exchanging the real gold that miners bring in for iron pyrite and charging exorbitant prices for his supplies.  Marsha and Hortensia Whipple arrive from the big city of Winnemucca to work the claim filed by their dear, departed daddy.  Of course, Dexter will see to it that he enjoys the fruits of their labor, and if possible, some forbidden fruit from Miss Marsha!  Independently, Jon Doe, undersecretary of the office of the United States Interstate Department Investigation of Technical Systems (I.D.I.O.T.S.) in Carson City, arrives in Dayton Diggins to investigate the fair practices and principals applied by employees of the government and their numerous branches.  In the course of that investigation, love blooms and saves the day, and, of course, the villain is caught out for his dirty deeds.

"Class Reunion"

During their Senior year at Dayton High School, Vito "the Slick" Gaggami stole the class memorial fund and blamed it on the class geek, Seymore Snodgrass.  Now, many years later, at the class reunion, he's running true to course.  He wants to get the Butterworth Secret Cheese Processing Mini-micro chip!  He plans to pretend he will marry Bonnie Sue Butterworth, heir to the Butterworth fortune, so he can gain access to the cheese processing plant and steal the chip.  Once in his possession, he will sell it to competing cheese plants and make a fortune, dumping Bonnie Sue in the process.  Unfortunately, for Vito, Sir Lance Laffatum shows up at the reunion.  Sir Lance and Bonnie Sue fall in love and Vito" The Slick" is found out for his larceny.  Sir Lance turns out to be Seymour Snodgrass, innocent of all blame!  You are bound to be surprised when you find out who takes up with Vito.  Filled with '60's songs, and loads of laughs!

"The Red Lamp"

"The Red Lamp" is a turn-of-the-century melodramatic farce, written in 1914 by Hilliard Booth.  The farce revolves around how three characters use a red lamp, which supposedly brings good luck.  The character, Alice signals her lover with the lamp. Harold, who befriends a hungry tramp, uses it to let the hobo know when he can come over for food.  And Aunt Matilda uses the lamp to invite her neighbor over for tea.  The result??  Confusion reigns supreme, as one character is mistaken for another.  The Misfits have added local flair to the play.  For one, it takes place on Pike Street---the very location of Mia's, and Harold's dream is to go to Pahrump in southern Nevada.

"The Unspeakables"

"The Unspeakables" is set in the wide open town of Dayton during the roaring twenties.  Much of the action takes place in the Odeon Hall Tea House, an establishment that purports to serve imported tea, but in fact, dispenses illegal alcohol.  While Big Mia operates the tea house, she keeps it's true business secret from the innocent Blossom Bright who crusades against illegal alcohol with the formation of the Sisterhood for Liquor Use Termination Society, or (S.L.U.T.S.)  However, the real power behind the scenes is Thistle Rose, Blossom's older sister and known throughout the area in criminal circles as "The Godmother".  The local authorities bring in Elliot Pest to fight the battle of prohibition and he forms the Unspeakables to raid dives like the Odeon Hall.  Thistle Rose, who wants to protect her liquor business, comes up with a plan to discredit and eliminate Elliot Pest.  Of course, Blossom Bright and Elliot Pest fall in love.  In the end, Thistle Rose is outed as a villian, Blossom and Elliot become engaged, and the Odeon Hall really does serve tea!!!

"The Love Child"

"The Love Child" is the Misfits initial production, after the group was formed in April 2004.  In this 1960's melodrama, Sunshine Goldenbraiden, the original flower child and mother of Garden of Love, the love child, goes to the State Department of Certification, Registration and Publication (aka C.R.A.P.) to acquire a birth certificate for the child to start school.  There she encounters Clinton A. Truthkiller, a degenerate and thoroughly evil public "servant", who always serves himself first.  Clinton stumbles over the fact that the love child is the sole heir to a fortune and concocts a scheme to have Sunshine declared an unfit mother, have the love child placed in his custody and play fast and loose with the child's inheritance.  Sunshine's friend arranges for her to meet Morgan P. Goodheart, Attorney at Law, Defender of the Downtrodden, and all around good guy who she hopes will defend Sunshine.  When they meet, Sunshine and Morgan fall instantly in love and Morgan vows to defend her to the ends of the earth.  In the climatic trial, Clinton is unmasked for the villain he is, Sunshine retains custody of the love child and she and Morgan decide to join their souls in marriage.
